Are you a PTCB certified Pharmacy Technician? Do you have sterile compounding experience? Do you want to show your employers that you have the education and dedication to become a Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician? Did you answer yes to all of these questions? Then you will be happy to hear that the National Pharmacy Technician Board has created a program in order for Certified Pharmacy Technicians to receive a Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) certification.
PTCB is launching this program in order to keep pushing forward with their commitment to medication safety. This certification will not only increase a CPhT’s education, making them a better candidate for job opportunities but also show that they are dedicated to the profession. Only Certified Pharmacy Technicians that are in good standing with the Pharmacy Technician Board are eligible to apply to become a CSPT. As an employer, committing to hiring Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician shows that you have also committed to the highest level of training. With the newly increased regulations in sterile compounding, pharmacy technicians must adhere to more and more rules. Failing to comply with any single one of these new regulations can lead to health risks for patients and poor outcomes on the reputation of the pharmacy technician and their pharmacy. The CSPT program will play an important role in teaching pharmacy technicians the regulations that they are required to adhere to. Hiring CSPTs within your company will show your dedication to patient health and safety, employee training and education, and medication safety.
For more information on how to apply and what makes the PTCB CSPT program unique visit here, or go to the PTCB website and go to the Sterile Compounding Certification link under the ‘Get Certified’ tab.
