Quick Tips: Set Up Your Voicemail

Tip of the day (17)

Make sure your voicemailbox is set up and empty.

Something that is often overlooked during the job search is the ability for recruiters and hiring managers to get in touch with you as the job seeker. Recruiters aren’t going to jump through too many hoops to get in touch with you so make sure they can! First and foremost, make sure your voicemailbox is set up and empty. If I had a dollar for every number I called and the voicemail was either not setup or was full, I wouldn’t have to work ever again! Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but I surely could cover at least a full day of work. I know myself, and I know that I don’t call anyone back from an unknown number unless they leave a voicemail, so why should I expect a candidate too? So before you go ahead and start applying to jobs or posting your resume on job boards, check to make sure your voicemail is active and people can actually leave voicemails!
